Out-of-State Information Gathered
One of the main principles of the PLSR process is, “Information and data should be the bedrock of the process” and in order to meet this goal, information has been gathered from in-state sources through surveys and review of data submitted to DPI as well as from out-of-state sources.
Eight states on nine webinars shared how their collaborative public library services are delivered and offered PLSR workgroups the opportunity to ask questions on a range of topics, from administration and governance to details on how delivery, continuing education, consulting and more are handled in their states. All of the webinars are available for you to listen to and have timestamps indicating major topics so you can listen to the whole recording or just the parts that interest you the most.
An out-of-state survey is also available as are several reports that the workgroups have consulted to inform their work. We can’t thank our colleagues across the nation enough for the time and effort they took to answer questions.
Over the late summer and the early fall, workgroup and Steering Committee members traveled to as many of the Systems as possible in order to present a PLSR Toolkit at all-director and other large meetings. The toolkit is intended to help library directors and others learn more about the process and to present that information to others, including library staff and boards. The toolkit materials are available on the PLSR site and include a PowerPoint presentation and accompanying script, a FAQ, and a handout describing the ways to offer feedback and stay up-to-date on workgroups and the overall process.

Each month, one or more workgroups will speak about how their work is progressing and will ask for community feedback. There will be ample time for questions from the community. And, no matter what workgroup is taking part in the discussion, your questions about any of the service areas are welcome. The upcoming sessions are:
