Call for Human Resources / Funding & Cost Standards Subcommittee Volunteers

Human Resources Subcommittee

The Public Library System Redesign Steering Committee is seeking volunteers or suggestions for individuals to serve on the Human Resources subcommittee. If you are interested in volunteering or recommending someone else, please send an email with an overview of the HR background and current employment position of the nominee to John Thompson, Steering Committee Chair, at thompson@ifls.lib.wi.us with the subject line “HR Subcommittee Volunteer”.

The stated goals for this subcommittee are:

  • To identify, evaluate, and discuss the human aspects of any potential alteration to the current model of service provided by library systems in Wisconsin.
  • Serve as a collection point of human resource-related issues that are raised throughout the process.
  • To do this work in a way that does not create any bias toward a particular direction or decision.

Funding and Cost Standards Subcommittee

In addition, a Funding and Cost Standards will be created soon to assist the Steering Committee with funding scenarios as the process moves forward. The role of this will be further defined as we move forward. If you are interested in volunteering or recommending someone else, please send an email with an overview of the Fiscal Services background and current employment position of the nominee to John Thompson, Steering Committee Chair at thompson@ifls.lib.wi.us with the subject line “Fundraising Subcommittee Volunteer”.

Recommendations are encouraged from within the library community and/or outside the library community.

While we would love to include all volunteers on the subcommittees, there is a limit to the number of subcommittee members, so all volunteers may not be added. However, both subcommittees will be consulting with other HR and Funding professionals as needed as the process moves forward.

Please contact John Thompson, Steering Committee Chair, if you have any questions or concerns.

Letter from John Thompson & the PLSR Steering Committee

Addendum 4/26/2017:

The Steering Committee will determine appointments at its May 15, 2017 meeting.  To be considered for appointment at this meeting, please volunteer or submit a recommendation by the end of the day May 5, 2017.  The committee may add others to these subcommittees later in the process if needs change and/or others are determined to be resources needed later in process.  Thus, those not appointed to a subcommittee at the May 15, 2017 PLSR Steering Committee meeting or any that submit a request to volunteer or a recommendation of someone else after May 5, 2017, may be contacted at a later point in the process by the committee with a request to serve on one of the subcommittees.
